After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987 with a BA in Journalism with emphasis in Public Relations, Brent spent three years in the Communications / Public Affairs department at GTE. He went to work with Horry Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (HTC) in 1990 as a Public Relations Representative. In 1994, Brent was promoted to HTC’s executive management team and is currently the Chief Executive of Customer Operations - overseeing sales, marketing, and customer service. He is active in many civic organizations including serving as an Area Commissioner for Horry – Georgetown Technical College, Chairman of the Horry County Shelter Home, Member of the Myrtle Beach Area Recovery Council, and Member of the Horry County Economic Development Strategic Plan Task Force. Brent and his wife, Dana, have two children, a daughter (Kirby) age 13, and a son (Evan) age 10. In his spare time he enjoys hunting and fishing.
